Why a diff view is better than a one-click rewrite

Seeing what changed helps you catch meaning drift, keep your voice, and learn which edits actually improve the draft.

A one-click rewrite gives you a new paragraph. A reviewable rewrite gives you a decision. The difference matters whenever the text contains a promise, a qualification, a personal detail, or a claim someone else will rely on.

ThruNote keeps the source and the rewrite side by side because the question is not only “does this sound better?” It is also “what changed, and did that change help?”

Diffs catch meaning drift

AI tools are good at producing fluent alternatives. Fluency can hide a small change in certainty, responsibility, or scope. “We expect” can become “we will.” A diff makes those changes easier to notice.

Review in three passes

  • Meaning: are the facts, names, promises, and limits still accurate?

  • Reader: is the point easier to find and act on?

  • Voice: would you actually say it this way?

Keep the useful changes and reject the rest

A rewrite is not a verdict on the original. It is a set of options. Keep the shorter sentence if it is clearer. Keep the original phrase if it carries your voice. Reject a confident-sounding addition if it introduces a claim you cannot support.

Good writing assistance should make review easier, not make review feel unnecessary.

Put the idea into your own words.

ThruNote helps you shape a rough draft without handing over the final decision.
